The House of Representatives passed a bill package Friday aimed at preserving one million acres of California public lands and wilderness.
The package passed with a vote of 227-220.
“One of the best things about living on the Central Coast is our access to beautiful public lands, like the Carrizo Plain National Monument and Los Padres National Forest. The Central Coast Heritage Protection Act will help preserve these public lands for future generations to enjoy and continue to bolster our local economy," said Rep. Carbajal.

U.S. Representative Salud Carbajal and other elected officials are working to pass a bill package that would preserve one million acres of California public lands and wilderness.
Lawmakers hosted a virtual event early Thursday afternoon to urge the bill to pass.
The package is strongly supported by the Biden Administration and would help meet state and federal goals to conserve 30 percent of public lands and waters by 2030.
It includes four key bills:
• Central Coast Heritage Protection Act, Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-Santa Barbara)
• Rim of the Valley Corridor Preservation Act, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank)
• San Gabriel Mountains Foothills and Rivers Protection Act, Rep. Judy Chu (D-Pasadena)
• Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation, and Working Forests Act, Rep. Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael)
The Central Coast Heritage Protection Act is expected to pass in the House on Friday.
